Life as a Church School
Vicarage Park is a Church of England Primary school. It is designated as a VC or Voluntary Controlled CE school. This means that it is a Local Authority Maintained School and receives no funding from the church, but it has foundation governors from the Anglican church community as part of its Governing Board.
'Church schools' are described by the Church of England on their own website as being 'inclusive and serving equally those who are of the Christian faith, those of other faiths and those with no faith'. Church schools serve the people and community of the locality. a church school is a community where everyone is educated in heart and soul as well as mind.
As a Church School, Vicarage Park enjoys good links with the local community church - Kendal Parish Church. Rev Shanthi (Rev Shanthi Thompson) leads worship in the school as well as leading the school in worship when they visit the church.
As well as Shanthi, other members of the church also visit to join in whole school Collective Worship or class learning.
Look out for more news about links with church on the class pages.
