Gilpin (Year 5) 2025 - 2026
Miss Mousdell
Miss Mousdell welcomes you to Year 5!
Our class is named Gilpin Class, inspired by our local river theme. We follow a creative curriculum approach, meaning that our English, Art, and Topic lessons are integrated around the same unit, Last half-term we focused on World War Two and we enjoyed our core text, *Letters from the Lighthouse* by Emma Carroll.
This half-term we are enjoing the novel 'Floodland' by Marcus Sedgewick which links to our topic on shelters! We are looking at the artist Henry Moore and his sketches of shelters. We are looking forward to designing our own shelter in our Design Technology lessons. We are also discovering the various forces around us in our science lessons. We have engaged in many fun experiments and we are excited for the ones to come! Gilpin Class have also attended the Kendal Mountain Festival this half-term which we thoroughly enjoyed and was a brilliant experience for us.
We are a creative, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable class, and we enjoy sharing our learning experiences. Have a look around our web page to see what else we have been getting up to.
