Religious Education

Religious Education is a highly valued academic subject in its own right that enables understanding of how religion and beliefs affect our lives. RE also enables pupils to strengthen their understanding of the school vision and values.

The importance placed on the development of the whole child spiritually, morally, socially, culturally and intellectually is reflected in the RE curriculum. The school provides an RE curriculum that is rich and varied and studies a range of world religions and worldviews.

Our aim is to provide a wide range of opportunities for learners to understand and to make links between the beliefs, practices and value systems of the range of faiths studied.

As a Voluntary Controlled school, we follow the Cumbria Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education

At Vicarage Park, the faiths taught in RE are:

  •  EY / KS1: Christianity and Islam
  •  KS2: Christianity, Islam and Hinduism

A copy of our RE curriculm plan can be found below.

Please see the full RE policy for more details.

To see the curriculum in action - have a look at the powerpoint of our classroom walls, courtesy of the Ethos group, as well as the photos of Y6 symbols of faith and one of the pieces of work from the whole school focus on salvation.
