Year 6 visit to Heaves Farm, Levens

Today the year 6 class went to Heaves Farm in Levens for a visit around their farm. It is a working dairy/veal farm. The class experienced what it was like to work on the farm and got to see all the animals. They held baby chicks, that had hatched just a few days ago, hold lambs that were very cuddly and stroke the calves.

It was fascinating to see all the modern technology that the farmers used and we were amazed that the cows all wore fitbits to make sure the farmers could keep an eye on how much they were eating, resting and how much milk they all give.

Some of the class became very attached to the animals and we nearly smuggled a couple of little chicks home!
