Year 1 and Year 4's Good Samaritan Assembly

The whole school have been learning about the story of The Good Samaritan and presented their learning in special assemblies throughout the week. It has been wonderful to learn about the story from so many different viewpoints. Yesterday, we had NISCU come in to teach us how the story links to our school values. Today, it was Year 1 and Year 4's turn. Year 1 presented some beautiful work and stood up and spoke articulately about their understanding of the story. They had thought carefully about how they could be 'good samaritan's' in our world and created wheels to picture some of these things - for example, walk instead of drive, use less paper and be kind to others. They had also created some beautiful stained glass windows. Year 4 discussed how the story represented our school values, particularly compassion. We had created 'modern representations' of the story using comic strips. Lots of us thought about the Golden Rule: Treat others how you wish to be treated. We decided that we should love our neighbours and to make sure people are all equal. Well done Vicarage Park for leading a whole week of fantastic and thought-provoking assemblies.
