Archives Visit.

Year 6 visited the County Offices to find out about the Workhouse in Kendal during the Victorian times. They looked at pictures taken of where the Workhouse was located and the events that took place there. They were able to look at actual archives about that time in History

They looked at registers of people who lived at the Workhouse in the late 1800s and found out about the meals they would eat and the jobs they would have done during their time there.

They went down to the archives room were all the documents are kept (very securely) and even found boxes which contained information about Vicarage Park school when it was called Central School. It was a fascinating visit and the children really enjoyed it. 

They could link their knowledge of the novel they are reading 'Street Child' and link it to events that took place in their home town.

Mrs Green was very proud of the way they shared their knowledge and the way they behaved.
